Arthur James Ronald was born at Halkirk March 16 1920 and passed away Oct 7 2013 in the Castor hospital at the age of 93 years 6 months and 22 days. Art began his farming career at about 16 years of age by working for Dan Radle and lived on Clamie and Lane farms, in lieu of cash his pay was livestock and when he ready to go on his own he sold the livestock and purchased his first farm by Lanes Lake. He sold this farm to the Hutterites in about 1959 or 60 and purchased the farm on which he remained until about 11/2 months ago. He lived in the old house for a few years he then purchased a beautiful 3 bedroom home to take its place. In June of 2009 lightning struck a power pole and started a fire that burnt all his corrals, out buildings and a quosent. Luckily he was home at the time and saved himself, his tractors and the house. He loved to farm, his cattle, cooking, baking pies and gardening which he shared with friends and the Paintearth Lodge. He was predeased by his father Victor, his mother Lilla, step-mother Ethel brother Gordon brothers-inlaw Roman and Walter and nephew Robert. He is survived by his loving family sisters Mamie and family, Joyce and family, brother Ernie his wife Diane and their family sister inlaw Alma and family and many many friends and neighbours. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Knox United Church, Castor, AB with Rev. Barbara Zimmerman, officiating. Should friends desire memorial contributions may be made in Art's memory to a charity of the donor's choice.
