Obituary of Shelby Rae Lynn Diegel
Please share a memory of Shelby to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Shelby Rae Lynn Diegel was born on July 23, 2007 in Stettler, Alberta to Kalvin and Jennifer Diegel. The youngest of three, she learned from the very beginning how much noise she would have to make to be heard. She had a scream that was deafening, which was very surprising coming from this little girl with jet black hair and blue eyes. As time passed, her hair would change to become blonde and her eyes became green. This was very frustrating for Shelby because she loved the color blue.
Every day with Shelby would lead to a new experience. One day Shelby started calling her mom Mama Cita, which means Little Mama. Shelby was a girl who loved her family and spending time with them in whatever capacity she could. Whether it was wrestling with her brother Ty, being a statue for Montanna who wanted to practice her dress making, voluntarily helping her mom with the laundry or out farming with dad. It didn’t matter what she was doing, as long as she was with the people she loved. Shelby had a spirit that would naturally draw people in and love her. Montanna and Shelby shared a very genuine love as sisters and Montanna knows their love is still there because a full rainbow appeared without a drop of rain.
In the midst of being as busy as a six year old can be, Shelby always found time to show her family how much she loved them. In the middle of an activity she would quickly pause, run to her mom and give her three or four kisses on the arm followed by an “I love you” then back to the races of childhood she would go. Shelby had a smile and attitude for life that would leave an impression on your heart so deep you couldn’t help but remember her. Her loss has left a hole in the hearts of her family that will never be filled, but her presence in their life has left a gift that can never be taken away.
Shelby will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by her parents, Kal & Jennifer Diegel; sister, Montanna; brother, Ty; grandparents, Deborah & Harold Hansel, Lester & Judy Diegel and Barbara & Gordon Oliver; Uncle Wylie (Tammy) and their children, Taylor and Tristen; Uncle Harlan; Aunt Gelasia (Geoff) and their daughter, Kalissa; Uncle Chris (Nicole) and their children, Jared, Alex and Sammy; Uncle Kevin; as well as numerous other relatives and friends
