Doug Shaw A gentle soul with a loving heart. It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce Doug Shaw, Jr., our beloved son, brother, uncle and friend passed away as the result of a tragic accident at home in Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the age of 53. Doug was born May 4, 1960 in Wainwright, Alberta and is fondly remembered by parents Louise and Doug Sr. , brothers Stu (Bev), Kelly (Corrine Nicholson) and sisters Cheri Wolbeck (Roger) and Tracy Nichols (Curtis), nieces Tara Linsley (Ryan), Alexandra Shaw, Caitlin Nichols, and nephew Tyson Nichols, along with many more family, friends and co-workers. Doug’s quiet nature and loving heart were evident to all who knew him. His love of cars, especially his vintage Corvette, began when he was young and never faded. His mechanical abilities were highly valued and never more than when it was time for farming, his other passion. Doug began and ended his power engineering career with ATCO, most recently at the Joffre Plant near Red Deer. He was a dedicated and well-liked employee for his entire 35 years with the company. His generous spirit was evident to everyone whether it was when giving birthday gifts, or wiring a basement for a friend or donating blood to those needing the gift of life. Doug enjoyed playing hockey, shooting a game of pool, cruising in a boat on a lake and maintaining his beautiful home. Doug was a special man who will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. A Celebration of Doug's life will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Castor, Alberta at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Castor Cemetery. Lunch will follow. If desired, donations in Doug's memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
