Obituary of Elsie Boger

Elsie Boger (nee Engel) went to her heavenly home in the Our Lady of the Rosary Hospital Extended Care in Castor on March 22, 2013 at the age of 98 years and 8 months. Elsie was born on July 20, 1914 in Klostitz, Bessarabia, Romania. She immigrated to Canada with her parents Johannes and Justina Engel in 1928, along with her three sisters. Arriving in Castor at the age of 14 she worked for different families in the area. Elsie married Henry Boger on March 20, 1935 and to this union four children were born Lilly, Violet, Adolf and Dan. She loved and devoted her life to her family. While on the farm she was busy with raising chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys and her big garden. After retiring to Castor in 1970 her hobbies were knitting and crocheting making afghans for all of her grandchildren plus another big garden. She also enjoyed the many camping and fishing trips. She attended the E.U.B. Church when they lived both on the farm and in Castor being an active member in the Ladies Aid, also the Ladies Knitting Club. There was always coffee and homemade cookies waiting when you stopped in. Henry and Elsie moved into the lodge in 2001 then Elsie moved into the Extended Care in 2009 for further care. Predeceased by her husband Henry in February of 2007; sisters and brothers in law Olga (Alex) Steinwand, Erna (John) Weitzel, Frieda Dolman, Hilda Engel, and Roy Dowhaniuk; brother Fred; sons in law Herbert Steinwand and Arthur Engel and her parents Johannes and Justina; she leaves to mourn her passing 2 daughters, 2 sons, 10 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
