Willina Langsford Lang (James) passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 in the Coronation Health Care Complex, Coronation, AB at the age of 78 years. Lina was born on September 4, 1934 in Galahad, AB to Hiriam and Mabel James. She took her schooling in Alliance, Stettler and Wetaskiwin. In 1952 she moved to Talbot with her sister Beatrice and that is where she met her husband Gerald Lang. Lina and Gerald were married on October 17, 1953 in Wetaskiwin. The couple then moved north of Talbot to farm and to this union four sons and one daughter were born. Lina enjoyed being on the farm, raising her children, gardening, sewing and going to the farmers market to sell her eggs, baking and vegetables in season as she always had a huge garden. She drove school bus and also worked in town at the Sew & Save. She was hairdresser for her sister as well as her friend Evelyn’s. She was an active member of the Talbot homemakers for many years. Lina loved helping with the farming. She was always the first one heading to the tractor or the combine to help put the crop in or take it off. She loved to travel. She went to Las Vegas, Phoenix, Mexico and then with her mother and sister to Hawaii and Florida. She is survived by Gerald; her children Barry (Deanne) of Leduc, Darrell (Teny Allen) of Stettler, Rodney (Allisson) of Edmonton, Cathy (Alban) of Peace River and Jamie of Talbot, eleven grandchildren Stephen (Majella) Lang, Patricia Lang, Cheryl Lang, Scott (Melinda) Lang, Jason Lang, Christopher Lang, Janeen Lang (Chris André), Christine Lang (Keith Johnson), Sean Lang, James MacAdam, Kelly MacAdam; step grandchildren Michael MacLean, Tyler MacLean, Gregory MacLean; two great grandchildren Eowyn and Dorian; her sisters Beatrice (Edwin) Hewitt of Calgary, Jane Vaughan of Wetaskiwin and Joyce (Joseph) Reardigan of Red Deer; sister in law Mary James as well as numerous other family and a host of many friends. Lina was predeceased by her parents Hiriam and Mabel; brother Frank; sisters Dorothy (Hayward) Smith and Isabel (Dave) Miller; brother in law Ronald Vaughan. She will be greatly missed. Funeral services to celebrate Lina’s life were held on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 in the Heartland Chapel of the Stettler Funeral Home with Pastor Ross Helgeton officiating. Mr. Doug McKay played for the congregational hymns. Honorary pallbearers were “All of Lina’s Beloved Grandchildren.” Cremation followed the funeral service and the interment of Lina’s cremated remains will take place in the spring of 2013. Family and friends then gathered together for a time of fellowship and luncheon in the Heartland Reception Centre prepared by the Linda Hall Ladies. Should friends desire memorial contributions may be made to the Coronation Health Care Complex Foundation, the Salvation Army or to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation.
