Joseph Andre Theodore Marc LaFreniere died in Castor Alberta on September 3, 2012 at the age of 84. Marc was born November 30, 1927 on the family farm near Somerset, Manitoba. Marc married the love of his life, Clara Wittevrongel on October 4, 1952 in Swan Lake, Manitoba. They resided in St. Boniface, Manitoba while Marc worked for the Massey Ferguson Company. In 1965, Marc, Clara and their 4 eldest children moved to Castor where they purchased the Macleods Store. This gave Marc more time to spend with his family as his previous job required a lot of travel. Their family then grew as two more children were added. Marc and Clara enjoyed camping, playing cards and visiting with the many wonderful friends they met through church and the warm community. Marc loved to fish, garden, ride his bike and do wood work. Marc was very inventive and resourceful. He loved to putter around his yard and basement workshop in his later years. Marc’s greatest joy was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Whenever the kids came to visit he was at his happiest. He loved holding babies. It was almost an inside joke that he would have had the grandchildren first if that had been possible. Unfortunately four short years ago Clara passed away. Loneliness and failing health took their toll on Marc. Marc is survived by his sons: Lawrence (Nadine) of Calgary and their children Peter and Daniel; Dennis (Christine) of Mayerthorpe and their children Lindsey (Dave) Pratt, Jared, Christian and Brittany; Robert (Sharon) of South Carolina and their children Emma and Laura; daughters: Laurie-Anne (Wayne) Erion of Castor and their children Keith (Janine), Tammy (Lyle) Renschler, Darcy (Stacey); Jocelyne (Rick) Barsness of Red Deer and their children Derek (Rhonda) Duncan, Heather (Darren) MacMillan, Dallas Duncan, Matthew Duncan, Caryn (Rob) Knievel and David (Ashley) Barsness; Lynne LaFreniere (Randy) of Didsbury; great grandchildren: Carlie, Hallie, Trey, Sydney, Ashley, Kolby, Gracie, Brody, Kaiel, Alexander, Ethan, Parker, Jasmyn, Isabel and Sophie; brother Remi (Elizabeth); brothers-in-law Jean, Duffy and Virgil; sisters-in-law Alice and Rachel.
