Obituary of Jean Mildred Plouvier
Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jean Mildred Plouvier was born on the family farm south of Halkirk on September 29, 1923. She passed away peacefully on June 19, 2012 with family by her side, at 88 years old. Jean was the youngest daughter of Harry and Sicelia Duncan. She grew up with 5 sisters and 4 brothers which made it a very close knit family. She took her schooling up to grade nine at Leader School. Jean worked at the telephone office in Halkirk for several years. She was a very talented piano player; in her younger years Jean was part of a band that played music at local dances. A fun time was always had by all. Throughout these years of her life is when she met the love of her life. Alfred and Jean were married in 1949; they spent 58 years enjoying life together. In 1964 they bought the family farm and moved north of town. Jean loved the peace and quiet of the country life. Looking after the yard was her passion, it was always as pretty as a postcard. Jean spent hours picking many different kinds of berries in the coulees. No berries would ever go to waste.
Doing jig saw puzzles and listening to the Oilers hockey games were two things that always went together. The small animals on the farm were Jean’s love.
FAMILY was very important to Jean; she always stayed in contact with all of her siblings. Jean was a member of the Halkirk Sunny Circle Club and Knox United Church.
In 1995 Jean and Alfred sold the farm and moved to Castor, it was time to slow down a little and enjoy life. New friends were found and life was good. Jean looked forward to friends and family stopping in for coffee, or going up to the coffee shop to catch up on the news.
Jean is survived by her sister Fern (Louie) Engel of Coronation, AB, brothers Jim of Stettler, AB, Harry (Hazel) of Calgary, AB, many nieces, nephews and extended family and a lot of good friends. Predeceased by her husband Alfred, parents Harry & Sicelia Duncan, Beattie (John) Godbersen, Peggy (Henry) Dahmer, Edwin, Celia (Art) Creasey, Doris (Jim) Fowler, Alex, Donald and sisters in law Elsie Duncan, Leonie Plouvier and Aline (Nevis) Lattery.
