Obituary of Otto Lehman
Please share a memory of Otto to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Otto Lehman was born December 16, 1921 in Romania to Ludwig and Emelia. Otto was the oldest of four children. Ludwig and Emelia immigrated to Canada when Otto was eight years old. Otto had three sisters Hilda, Bertha and Lydia. Otto also had four half siblings in Romania as when his mother came to Canada she left behind four children from a previous marriage Jack, John, Ida, and Emma. He married the love of his life Sarah Scheffelmaier October 12, 1947. To this lasting union two children were born, Darlene and Oscar, both who have predeceased Otto.
Otto spent most of his life in the Spondin and Castor area. They moved to Castor in 1971, making it their permanent home. He was a hard worker and expected everyone to work as hard as himself. He farmed and had a love of the land and growing crops, which later became gardens. Even after moving into the lodge for the benefit of Sarah he would still grow a huge garden. When planting became too much he would tell Lerry and Janet just how to do it. His help was always appreciated even when he weeded the flowers not the weeds. He loved auction sales and would attend as many as possible. He enjoyed sitting outside as much as he could. Otto would quite often sit in Lerry’s shop and visit while Lerry worked. Otto leaves to mourn his wife of sixty-four and a half years Sarah.
Funeral service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, Friday, June 15, 2012 at 2:00 PM. Donations may be made to Our Lady of the Rosary Hospital Foundation or to the Paintearth Lodge.
