James Wesley Williamson was the second of four children to be born to Russ and Velma Williamson at Castor, Alberta on April 26, 1938. Jim attended Willow Point country school along with his older brother Art until 1948 when rural children were bussed into the town of Castor to attend school. After grade nine, Jim decided to stay home and work with his father on the family farm. After Russ passed in 1988, Jim continued to farm on his own. Jim loved the farm. Livestock was his passion. He owned several horses over the years. His favorite was Smoky, a palomino stud. He also owned a pair of Canadian mares – Gypsy and Jess. He passed away April 8, 2012 at Camrose, Alberta at the age of 73 years. Jim is survived by his sister Etta (Don) Kovalsky, nephews Darroll, Edward (Michelle), Donald (Candace) Kovalsky, Russ (Kim) Williamson, nieces Tina (Darcy) Beierle, Alison (Brian) Gash, grand nephews Brendan Kovalsky, Reid and Drew Williamson, Mathew and Ryan Fowler; grand nieces Kim (Chris) Williamson, Courtney (Travis) Deman, Megan and Rheanne Beierle; Sierra and Jewel Kovalsky; Grace Williamson as well as great grand nieces Paige and Georgia Williamson. Funeral services were held at Evangelical Missionary Church on Monday, April 16, 2012 with Pastor Grant Sikstrom officiating. Nadene and Lavern Wideman presented their gift of music for the congregational hymns Church in the Wildwood, Rock of Ages, Sweet By and By, Beyond the Sunset and Shall We Gather At the River. Tribute was given by Russell Williamson. Interment was held at Castor Cemetery with Edward Kovalsky, Russell Williamson, Maurice Wiart, Albert Oram, Richard Elhard and Jerry Wiechnik as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were all those who touched Jim’s life. Family and friends gathered for a time of fellowship in the Upper Hall of the Church with a luncheon prepared and served by the Women’s Ministries. Memorial donations may be made to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation, Alberta Diabetes or a charity of your own choice.
