Jim passed away December 17, 2011 at Our Lady of the Rosary Hospital with some of his family by his side. He had his grade school training at two different schools as his folks moved to a different area. His junior high school was at Brant where he rode his bike five and a half miles to school. His high school was at Heronton where he went through grade 11. Then he worked on the farm with his dad and got odd jobs around. There was an air base being built near their home for air force training during the war and Jim got on helping with the carpenter work. He was very creative and did a lot of hobby projects as well. During 1946 Jim accepted Christ and a whole new future opened up for him. On February 22, 1947 he married Dorothy Ewing and together they set up a God honoring home. To this union were born four children: Lyle (Meloney), June (Claude), Douglas (Karin) and Colleen (Jim). There are eleven grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren. The first three years of marriage were lived at Vulcan and then they moved to Halkirk where he farmed and got back into carpentry. After five years they sold the Halkirk farm and bought one east of Castor where he continued in carpentry and received his Journeyman Certificate. When the Paintearth Lodge was built and filled with residents he began Sunday Morning Bible class time and it is still continuing today. He was predeceased by his five sisters and their husbands: Maise (Howard) Smith, Barbara (Fred) Wade, Constance (Hans) Huber, Dorothy (Jake) Heide, Helen (Archie) Ferguson as well as one brother at birth.
