Obituary of Joel Richard Kelts

Joel Richard Kelts was born in Calgary on July 18, 1988. Joel was to be born in Consort but he was in no hurry to be born, so we were off to Calgary.

Joel is the son of Rick and Sandy Kelts and brother to Jalisa. His grandparents were the late Donald and Helen Kelts of Consort. Joel was fortunate enough to have a large extended family that included Bill and Margaret Kelts and Neil and Sandra Polson. His brothers were Mark and Brad Kelts and Russell and Robert Polson. His sisters included Jennifer Schetzsle and Jenna Collett. Keith, Jane, Sarah and David Hemke have been very influential people in Joel’s life. His close friends were Cody Wittmack, Lucas Latimer and Robert Dempsey and most of the town of Consort; because you know we are related to everyone.

Joel is survived by his parents and sister; his grandparents Bruce and Ethel Little of Balgonie, Saskatchewan. Uncles Grant, Jim and Kerry of Millarville, Byran and Martha, Greg and Janice, Mike and Lynn Little of Estevan, Kit and Michelle Little of Maple Ridge; numerous other family and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Consort Curling Rink on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Darrel Durksen officiating. Margaret Kelts gave a loving tribute to all those in attendance. Musical selection If Today Is Your Last Day by Nickelback was played during the service. Congregational hymns How Great Thou Art and Amazing Grace were sung and accompanied by Linda Schetzsle. Joel was laid to rest at Consort Lakeroad Cemetery with Lucas Latimer, Mark Kelts, Robert Polson, Russell Polson, Cody Wittmack and Robert Dempsey serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were all of Joel’s family and friends. Fellowship and luncheon by the Consort Community Committee was held at the Consort Curling Rink following the graveside.
