Ruth Muriel Twa died on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 83 years of age at Long Term Care at the Coronation Hospital and Care Center. Ruth was born March 11, 1928 in Coronation, only daughter of Ernest and Beatrice Benson. She attended school in Coronation with her four brothers: Earl, Neil, Ken and Merle. Later she was blessed with two more brothers, Owen and Lyle and a special mother “Marge.” Ruth excelled at academics, track and field, piano and figure skating.
In Coronation on November 9, 1945 Ruth married George William Twa and became a farm wife at Talbot where they began to raise their family. Following Carole’s birth, George and Ruth then started to travel across Alberta and Saskatchewan as George worked the oil rigs. After Theresa and Larry were born the family returned to the farm where the other five children were born.
Ruth was an active member of the Talbot Homemaker`s for over fifty years. She also raised a large garden, baked bread and ran the farm when George was away working.
In 1972 Ruth went to work as a Nursing Attendant at the new Nursing Home where she continued to work for the next twenty year. As well she helped to raise two grandchildren and continued to be active with the farm. Following her children’s many activities, especially their sports were a highlight of her life.
In 1991 George and Ruth moved to town. She retired from the Nursing Home in 1992 but continued to help with the farm work. She took great pride in developing her new yard in town, and especially in decorating the house and yard for Christmas.
