Please share a memory of Bertha to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of Bertha Jane Bible on August 2, 2019 in Stettler at the age of 96 years. Bertha was born April 23, 1923 in Hanna, Alberta, the oldest of four children. Raised on a farm and did her schooling at the Red Rose School in the Hanna district. Married at 17 years raised 6 children and was widowed at a young age of 53 years. Bertha loved her gardening with the canning and preserving. Enjoyed going saskatoon berry picking with her family out in the country. She enjoyed looking after her yard with her many flowers. Bertha had many hobbies - sewing, knitting, crocheting and made many projects with each - quilts, mittens & slippers, baby outfits and many doilies. She did enjoy floor curling later on in life. She resided in Erskine and got to know may neighbours & friends before moving to Stettler. Mom’s strength, courage and selfless nature were an inspiration to her family and friends who knew her. She had a few setbacks in life but managed to bounce back with her ability to keep going and her strength amazed us. Predeceased by her two husbands, son Gordon Bible and daughter-in-law Gwen Bible, daughter Veronica Schmidt and son-in-law George Schmidt and son-in-law Alex Taggart. nephew Keith Collins. Also her siblings - two brothers George and Clarence Collins and sister Ruth Taylor. Survived by her son Irvine (Lorraine) Knauft of Stony Plain, daughters Edna Taggart of Didsbury (formerly of Gadsby) Mable Douglas of Red Deer and, Ethel (Rod) Giesbrecht of Clive - 17 grand children; 30 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Niece Julie (Mark) Jones (Collins) of Byemoor and nephew Wayne Taylor of Sundre, Alberta. Memorial contributions in Bertha’s memory may be made to Heritage House or a charity of your own choice
