Obituary of Edna Mary Potter
Edna Mary Potter
December 3, 1940 ~ May 27, 2026
Edna Mary Potter of Erskine, beloved wife of Larry Potter, passed away suddenly but peacefully at the Stettler hospital on May 27, 2026, at the age of 86 years.
Edna was born December 3, 1940, in Alhambra, Alberta at their family farm to parents Alice and James Anderson.
Edna’s school years started in Alhambra and then moved to Rocky Mountain House, Wayne and then to Hackett where Edna continued school and in the later years, was bussed to Botha for high school. After high school Edna worked at the Stettler hospital as a Care-aid. Edna’s mother was a home maker, and her father worked on the railroad, and it was through the railroad that Larry (Edna’s future husband) was introduced to the Anderson family. Larry worked with Edna’s Dad on the railroad; on numerous occasions their paths crossed and they eventually became acquainted. One of Edna and Larry’s first dates was at Edna’s high school dance. Love blossomed over the years, and Larry and Edna married November 26, 1960. They first resided in Stettler where Larry worked on the railroad, and Edna stayed home to raise their family. Three children completed their family. They finally settled in Erskine, Alberta as Edna continued being a home maker Larry worked at the Nevis Gas Plant until retirement. They enjoyed and built a wonderful life in their community over the years.
Edna enjoyed her many friends and was dedicated to the Lord and their church. Edna had many hobbies: quilting, sewing, gardening, canning, cooking, baking bread. As a home maker she had thirty five years of making Larry’s lunches “under her belt” as well! Her children, grandchildren, extended family, close friends and the Lord were the centre of her life! Edna knew how to Love and had a way of remembering the little things that mattered most and a way of bringing out the best in others with her smile and kindness. Edna will be forever missed!!
Edna is survived by her loving husband Larry Potter; children: Debbie Potter, Scott (Theresa) Potter and Sharon (Anthony) Kozun; grandchildren: Wade, Celine, Jesse, Allan, Mandy (Jayde), Michelle (Tyler) and Tyler; great grandchildren: Jayla, Brooklyn, Mason, Deakon, Beckett, Brynlee, Destiny, Harley, Grace and Ethan; sister-in-law Coleen Anderson; brothers-in-law Art Hamilton, Don Metz and Dean Dean Bryan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and many dear friends.
