Rosemary Violet Whymark

1954 ~ 2026

Rosemary Violet Whymark of Stettler, beloved wife of the late Barry Whymark, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026, at the age of 71 years.

Rosemary was born on June 19, 1954, in Ponoka. She spent her early years in Ponoka and, throughout her childhood, lived in several Alberta communities including Millet, Rollyview, Stony Plain, and Wetaskiwin. Rosemary graduated from Wetaskiwin Composite High School in 1972.

While living in Wetaskiwin, Rosemary met the love of her life, Barry Whymark. The two were united in marriage on June 30, 1972, beginning a life together filled with love, hard work, and devotion to family. Following their marriage, Rosemary moved to the Whymark family farm near Byemoor, where she and Barry built a life farming together. They raised pigs and cattle, grew crops, and tended to a large garden that Rosemary took great pride in.

Rosemary had a deep love for animals and cherished the companionship of her beloved pets throughout the years, especially her cat Dollon, her dogs Spunky and Shorty, her many farm cats, and most recently her “adopted” dog, Shadow.

She enjoyed many hobbies and simple pleasures in life. Rosemary loved sewing, crocheting, reading, playing cards, doing search-a-words, and working on puzzles. She was known for her caring nature, quiet strength, and the warmth she shared with family and friends.

Rosemary was also dedicated to her community. She was a longtime member of the Royal Purple of Canada and faithfully served on both the Byemoor Cemetery Committee and the Byemoor Ladies Home Circle, contributing her time and care to causes that were important to her.

Rosemary will be lovingly remembered by her family, friends, neighbours, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and love that will not be forgotten.

Rosemary is survived by her sister Jeanette Makus (Tom Matsuda); brother Richard (Aline) Makus; nieces and nephews:  Lyle (Anne) Makus, Kerry Whittaker, Paula Franklin, Angela (Scott) Lowther, Ben (Theresa) Makus and Jill Makus; great nieces and nephews:  Abbey and Max Whittaker, Jordan and Callie Lowther, Kiera Haney, and Shaye Makus; numerous other relatives and many wonderful friends.

Rosemary was predeceased by her parents Arnold and Margaret Forth; brother Melvin Makus and beloved husband, Barry Whymark.

Family and Friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, May 24, 2026 between 1:00 and 3:00 P.M. at the Stettler Funeral Home & Crematorium, Stettler, Alberta.
