Sharon Unsworth

October 11, 1951 ~ March 6, 2026

Sharon Lynn Unswoth of Stettler passed away in her residence at Willow Creek Lodge on March 6, 2026 at the age of 74 years.

Sharon was the oldest child of five to Louis and Laura Unsworth. She grew up on a farm at Garden Plains and attended school at Netherby and then Hanna High School. She then went to Calgary to go to school to be a registered nurse. Although, she didn’t finish her training, she got married to Wilfrid Schritter on November 4, 1972, at 21 years old. Wilf and Sharon lived on a farm south of Castor. On November 21, 1973, they had their first child, Brian. On March 31, 1977, Michelle was born and on November 3, 1978, Michael was born.

Sharon worked at Castor Medical Clinic and at the lodge in Castor. Later, after the kids grew up and started living their lives, she divorced Wilf and lived in Hanna and worked at the long-term care. Sharon later moved to Stettler and went back to school to complete her registered nurse training. Unfortunately, she never got to use it. She worked at Walmart in Stettler as a cashier for about three years.

Sharon later lived in Camrose for a few years, but then later experienced a medical emergency and she had to move in with Brian in Wetaskiwin for recovery. After a few years there, Brian and Sharon relocated to Red Deer.

Sharon lived in Red Deer for three more years, then moved to Willow Creek Lodge in Stettler. She lived out the rest of her years enjoying the activities and singing in the church choir. Sharon made many friends there.

Sharon is survived by her loving family: sons Brian Schritter and Michael Schritter; grandchildren Korbyn Kerek-Schritter, Hailey Fanjoy-Schritter and Paige Fanjoy-Schritter; brothers John Unsowrth and Gerry Unsworth; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and dear friends.

Sharon was predeceased by her parents Laura and Louis Unsworth; brothers Robert Unsworth and Frank Unsworth; daughter Michelle Schritter.

Angels

To all the Angels who have gone on ahead…

The Angels’ have gathered

It’s a very special day

The Angels are smiling

When we bow our heads to Pray

The Angels are grateful

These souls are here to stay

The Angels are crying

For those who fall astray

The Angels are Praying

That they’ll return someday

The Angels keep trying

To steer our path His way

The Angels will come back

To lead us Home one day
