May 19, 1927 ~ January 8, 2026

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Betty Gleave on January 8, 2026. Betty passed away peacefully in Ponoka, Alberta at the age of 98 years.

Betty is survived by her sister Jean Frodsham (Bob); niece Karen (Blair) Pritchard; great nephews Jordan (Victoria) Pritchard and Kellyn (Makena) Pritchard; nephew Paul Ermantrout (Teresa Sturgess), great nieces Kelsie Ermantrout (Emile) and Kayla Ermantrout (Francisco); sister-in-law Dorothy Frodsham; niece Gail Livsley; nephews: Barry Frodsham, Glyn Frodsham, Jason Frodsham and Tony Frodsham; also great nieces and nephews in England, great great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Betty was predeceased by her husband Stephen “Steve” Gleave; infant daughter Dorothy Jean Gleave; parents Joseph and Elizabeth Frodsham; and brothers Jack Frodsham and Ken Frodsham.

Betty was born on May 19, 1927, in Haydock, England, the eldest of four children. Betty met Steve Gleave, a member of the Canadian Army stationed in England and on September 8, 1945, they married and made plans to return to Steve’s hometown of Stettler, Alberta, Canada. In June 1946, Betty came to Stettler as a war bride on the “RMS Queen Mary”, a vessel famous for delivering thousands of new brides safely to north America.

Steve and Betty lived in various towns throughout Alberta during their many years together. Betty loved to travel, together she and Steve enjoyed many holidays after his retirement. She also enjoyed many vacations with her sister Jean throughout the years.

May Betty rest in peace now that she is once again reunited with her beloved “Steve”.
