Doreen Minnie Raho
December 1, 1939 ~ December 4, 2025
Doreen Minnie Raho Passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at the age of 86 years. Doreen was born in Elnora, AB the fourth child to Edward and Hilda Payne. She grew up on the family farm in Lousana where she loved helping her dad with chores. Doreen went to school in Lousana and Delburne. She went to college where she received her Nursing Aide diploma in 1959 and started a long and rewarding career at the Stettler Health Centre where she worked for over 30 years.
Doreen met the love of her life, Vern in 1961 and they were married in 1962. To this union they raised four daughters.
Doreen enjoyed many great camping and fishing trips with friends. She especially loved taking her grandchildren fishing. She travelled to many places including Hawaii, England, cruising to Alaska. Her hobbies included curling, playing cards (crib with her sons-in-law), singing in the Choir, cross stitching, gardening. She made sure each daughter and all her grandchildren each received a framed cross stitch picture. She was well known for making buns and sharing with family, friends and neighbors. She spent many hours volunteering at Superfluity, Meals on Wheels, etc. She faithfully attended the Anglican Church and was a member of the Linda Hall Ladies Club for many years. She had a special love for her pets – most recently her dogs Ringo, Buddy and cat Pepper.
Doreen is survived by her daughters: Sophie (Dean) Hewlett, Kathy (Donnie) Moxham, Nancy (Murray) Bauman and Julie Raho; son-in-law Noel Nixon; grandchildren: Travis (Sasha), Ashley (Steve), Scott (Vanessa), Curtis (Alexi), Chad (Sonya), Sommer (Hugh), Cole (Sydney) and Adam (Haley): great grandchildren: Annie, Theo, Sawyer, Lennon, Taves, Porter, Paisley, Maddyn and Millie; sister Margaret Doble and sister-in-law Helen Dunk.
Doreen was predeceased by her husband Vern; parents Edward and Hilda Payne; father and mother-in-law Oscar and Annie Raho; sister Mabel Murray; brother Ernie Payne; brothers-in-law Tom Raho, Bob Doble, Johnnie Murray and sister-in-law Gloria Payne.
