Marjorie Lola Stewart

April 1, 1947  ~  November 8, 2025

Marjorie Lola Stewart of Big Valley, Alberta passed away, November 8, 2025 in Red Deer, Alberta at the age of 78 years. She was born April 1, 1947 at Stettler, Alberta, the eldest daughter of Vince and Lola Stewart.

Marjorie attended elementary school in Erskine, Alberta and obtained her high school at Wm E. Hay High School in Stettler, Alberta. She went on to several jobs in the food service industry and then on to becoming a licenced beautician. She then returned to post secondary school where she took training to become a Drug and Alcohol councillor. She was very proficient in office administration with her work taking her to the High Level / Fort Vermillion area, where she worked with the Beaver Band for 20 plus years.

In the late nineties Marjorie was diagnosed with a severe autoimmune disorder. She returned to her roots in the Stettler area, settling in Big Valley, where she enjoyed her solitude. She enjoyed her yard, gardening, bird watching and reading. She thoroughly loved and enjoyed her canine companions Pugsley #1 and Pugsley#2, walking miles and miles with these guys.

Marge was a walking textbook of knowledge, be it Native Indigenous Culture, Erskine history, birds, flowers and nature. Marge was a great help to her mother prior to her failing health, she was always ready to lend a helping hand if it was outside work only!!

In December 2023 things really went downhill with her health. She never fully recovered. Life got real tough for her and we as her family are grateful for her neighbour and friend Sue Boswell for keeping an eye on her for us, as Marge wasn’t one to accept or ask for help easily. We are also grateful for anyone else we failed to mention. Thank-you to Stettler and Red Deer hospitals, and homecare.

Marjorie is survived by her siblings: Allan Stewart of Red Deer, AB., Randy (Elsie) Stewart of Erskine, AB., Bonnie (Richard) Williams of Wardlow, Ab., and Marian Braun of Markerville, AB.; along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts; and special friend and neighbour Sue Boswell of Big Valley, AB.

She was predeceased by parents Vince and Lola Stewart; nephew Jeremy Stewart; sister-in-law Karen Stewart; niece Charity Stewart; and brother-in-law Charles Braun.
