Obituary of Ricky Terry Wooden
Ricky Terry Wooden
October 2, 1955 ~ October 26, 2025
Rick Wooden was born in Stettler, Alberta, on October 2, 1955, to Clifford Wooden and Lorraine Gendre. He was the third of seven children and grew up surrounded by the energy that only a big family can bring.
Rick was a free spirit through and through. He had a deep appreciation for nature and found peace in the outdoors, whether it was a quiet evening spent watching the sunset or time shared with family and friends under an open sky. He had a big heart and a gentle soul, and he especially loved doting on his nieces and nephews.
Rick found true enjoyment in his work as a heavy equipment operator. He was never happier than when he was behind the controls of a track hoe — his skill, precision, and pride in his craft made him one of the best in the business. He took great satisfaction in a job well done and was always willing to lend a hand or share his expertise with others.
When the day’s work was done and the hoe was parked for the night; Rick could often be found relaxing with a good football game or cheering on his beloved Toronto Blue Jays. He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures and had an easygoing way about him that made everyone feel welcome and at ease.
Rick will be remembered for his kind heart, strong work ethic, horrendous cooking abilities and being the world’s slowest eater. But above all, he will be remembered for the laughter he brought to those lucky enough to know him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
Rick is survived by his mother, Lorraine Gendre; siblings Walter (Lorrie) Wooden and Judy Gendre; brother-in-law Brian Gendre; sisters-in-law: Olive Wooden, Roxane Wooden and Susan Chick, the work families he cherished throughout his career; numerous extended family and many dear friends.
Rick was predeceased by his dad Clifford Wooden; siblings: Danny Wooden, Debra Gendre, Katie (Patrick) Dyck, and Bruce Wooden; brother-in-law Larry Gendre.
