I have many good memories of Bernie.
But I think the first one was the one that really impressed me and made her dear to me.
I was a stranger in town, and put up by my company in a hotel. One day the hotel told me my company wasn’t paying for my rooms anymore.
So I found a rental in Botha
I didn’t have much, I certainly didn’t have a bed.
I just happened to be working with Bernie son Tyler.
He told me where to go and who to talk to and that night they delivered a bed brand new to my home in Botha .
Another time I would’ve ended up in a hostel in red deer.
If it had not been for her kindness.
I honestly believe that she saved my life when she did that.
How can you thank someone for that?
I’m very sorry that we’ve lost her.
My only thought is that her humour and her great energy were needed somewhere else.
I know that wherever she is now, God is holding her in his arms.

So sorry to have missed Bernie's funeral today.
Bernie was a super special lady !
Her generosity to the community and all its events was unique.
I got so I just couldn't stop in and ask for any more donations because I knew she'd say yes and I knew that she had said yes to many before me.
I enjoyed her little billboards around town and in her store and the sayings that came from her heart and the welcome you ALWAYS got when you walked into her store!!!
And you're right always someone was sitting at her counter trying to get some sunshine and wisdom from her smiling soul.
She will be missed greatly in the little town of Stettler but her legacy will live on as we all try to be better community people because of Bernie!!!

When I think of Stettler, I think of Bernie. She was the heartbeat of the town. My first memory after moving to Stettler as a kid is Bernie. I saw a Pooh Bear plushy in the window and popped in to take a look. She gave it to me. And that is how Bernie always was, giving. Whether it be a smile, a laugh, a story, a hug, or some other form of gift. When I heard of her passing, my first thought was of the loss, the second wondering how Stettler will move forward without her at the helm. Rest easy, Bernie. May we all live by your example.

As my husband (Ray) and Bernies father (Leon) were friends many years ago we spent a lot of time together. Sunday dinners after Mass was a common get together so I had the pleasure of spending a lot of time watching her and her siblings grow into the wonderful adults they became. Bernie & I had a closer relationship and enjoyed our talks reminiscing. I will so miss her and her big hugs. Rest in Peace Bernie. Love you and will so miss you

The Secular Franciscans had a wonderful Mass and picnic out at the family farm at the beginnign of June. Bernie and her family got everything ready for us. While we were there Bernie came out with so much energy to greet and welcome us. I think of her and Rosemarie greeting each other in heaven! What a reunion! Bernie had an indomitable spirit and will be missed by so many.

My favorite memory of my cousin, Bernie was when she would come to visit my family at our Buffalo Lake cottage. We’d go paddle-boarding and kayaking along the south shoreline. Having lots of belly laughs, as we told each other fabulous and cherished stories.
During Bernie’s last weeks on earth, I gave her a 20”x30” picture of our Lord Jesus carrying a little girl on his shoulders. Bernie said, “That was her riding on Jesus shoulders”. I smiled and nodded my head in agreement :)
We both prayed for all her family members; naming them one by one, that they too would be in heaven with her someday, with our Lord Jesus.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him, should not perish, but have eternal life". John 3:16
Salvation prayer : Lord Jesus, I need you. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my heart and invite you in as Savior and Lord. Forgive me of all my sins. Wash me in the blood of Jesus and clothe me in the righteousness of Christ. From this day forward I will follow you, Lord Jesus. In Jesus name, I pray.

Bernie was one of the first people we had contact with, when we moved to Stettler in 2013. We phoned Wells Furniture from Scotland to order some furniture prior to arriving. ‘Wacky woman of Wells!’ were her first words to us, and had us wondering just what kind of place we were moving to! We soon found out.
Many of my memories of our 5 years in Stettler include Bernie - she was an all encompassing warm presence who was ever ready to help anyone and everyone. I feel so privileged to have known her and will endeavour to live up to her example always. She was a star. Rest in peace, Bernie. Xx

My sincere condolences to Donnie & family.
May our Lord Jesus Christ give all of you: Donnie, Christine, Anthony, Tyler & your loved ones…. His comfort & strength for your families during this time. In Jesus name I pray.
The beautiful photo of Bernie definitely encapsulates her personality. She had a heart of gold and will be dearly missed by many. Her smile, enthusiasm, energy and kindness made a piece of Heaven on Earth.
There is no doubt in my mind, that Bernie is still shining in her heavenly home. She’s probably already heard the words from our Lord & our God, Christ Jesus; Savior of our soul, “Well done, good and faithful servant, enter into the kingdom of God that was prepared for you before the foundations of the world.”
See you again…..someday soon, dear cousin.
“For the dead in Christ shall rise first, & they who remain shall be caught up in the air & will be forever with the Lord.”

Bernie was such a Light of Faith to all who came in contact with her! She was so excited to share her story of being Parade Marshall recently, when we met at our 2024 Family Reunion in Trochu.
She graciously opened the gates to the Family Chapel and shared her family's legacy of their land.
Cherish your best memories.

Dear Don and the entire Jackson Family.....
Where would you start..... Bernie was just the most caring, loving, generous and giving person we have ever had the pleasure to know... Just a huge lose to your family and the entire Stettler and surrounding communities.... When our daughter Lindsay had her accident 5 years ago, Bernie was the first one to come see us and nothing doing she gave her a free mattress for her recovery and monetary gift.. We Will never forget her generosity and mostly her caring thoughts..... Take Care and know she was admired and loved by many.... Her faith never waivered..... Gone way too early....
