Almost 20 yrs ago I was able to reconnect to this distant part of our German forebears to Dorothea Wischoff - my own Great Great Grandmother who is buried in Botha. I will always cherish the memory of Alf and his family when meeting them personally and all the assistance he offered. May those family contacts last forever! RIP Alf ❤️

Having known Alf most all of my life, I am still bewildered by the vastness of his knowledge and expertise. An incredible mind in an incredible man. Always wanting to pass on understandings of every kind of situation backed up by a staggering volume and mastery of facts of every type. Every visit with Alf was a delight - ALWAYS something to be learned or insights to be gained. How I’ll miss our visits. He challenged you to think each and every time you chatted with him. Our world has lost a truly amazing man.

Alf is a cousin in law, to a dear cousin Jean. Memories abound with Jean and the Forbes family as we grew up. I had little contact but was first a bit awed by Alf at the U of A, but over so many years each time we met he got my attention with a sincere, serious and kind exchange. Alf could only be viewed as a wonderful contributing human being who made the world he lived in a better place. No doubt in my mind he is at peace as a just reward. Thank you Alf. Neil Myers
