Christopher Basil Tibbo
September 28, 1980 ~ July 8, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved Christopher Basil Tibbo.

Chris was born on September 28, 1980, in Calgary, Alberta, to parents Basil and Susan Tibbo.

Chris grew up in Nova Scotia and attended Stellarton High School before heading west, where he spent many years working in the oilfield industry, most notably with Precision Drilling. His last place of employment was with Ponto’s Patch Service Ltd., where he was known for his hard work and good nature.

A true fan of the Edmonton Oilers, Chris loved hockey - especially cheering on his son Ashtyn during games. He was always happiest when surrounded by his family, and although distance kept him from seeing his daughter Danielle regularly, he never missed a chance to express how proud he was of her and her many accomplishments.

Chris had a talent for fixing and tinkering - whether it was his bike, truck, or quads, he was always working on something. He also had a creative side, often making jewelry for the special people in his life. But above all else, his family was his greatest joy. Daily FaceTime calls were a cherished ritual, keeping him close to those he loved.

Chris’s kind heart, sense of humor, and deep devotion to his loved ones will be missed beyond measure.

Chris is survived by his daughter Danielle McKay (Erin); son Ashtyn Tibbo; parents Basil and Susan Tibbo; sisters Ashley Tibbo and Tiffany Fraser (Derek); maternal grandmother Patricia Hughes; mother of his son Jenna; chosen family Kayla and her daughters Emma, Madison and Alexis; as well as special aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews who he loved and missed very much.

Chris was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Annie and Basil Tibbo; maternal grandfather Lawrence Hughes and uncle Robert Tibbo.

"Believe in yourself and you will be unstoppable"
