Obituary of Grant Douglas Freemantle
Grant Douglas Freemantle
January 3, 1962 ~ April 17, 2025
Grant Douglas Freemantle, of Stettler, Alberta; beloved husband, dad, brother, uncle & friend; passed away peacefully with family by his side on April 17, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Grant was born in Fort St. John, BC on January 3rd, 1962, to Art and Helen Freemantle. Growing up in Northern BC, Grant began his career in his teens and worked his way up to Regional Supervisor for Yellowhead Road and Bridge in BC.
While living in Fort St. John, Grant’s love grew as he welcomed his two daughters into his heart. Brandi Fehr (Eli) in 1982, and Miranda Freemantle in 1986. While raising his girls, Grant’s love for camping, campfires, and golfing with family and friends provided him many laughs and hours of enjoyment.
In 2002, Grant met the love of his life and partner in crime, Debbie, where together with Debbie’s son Chris they became a family. While living in Northern BC, and working for the Yellowhead Road and Bridge, Grant and Debbie took on the ultimate challenge of working together and established D & G Traffic Control. They eventually moved to Vanderhoof and opened another branch of D & G. The business kept them hopping and happy for many years until they were able to take an early retirement and move closer to Grant’s daughters and build their “forever” home in the Kootenays.
In 2023, Grant’s love for his extended family led them to relocate to Stettler, Alberta; where Grant and Debbie enjoyed playing cards, bowling, family campfires, and holiday gatherings.
Grant is survived by his wife Debbie; daughters Brandie and Miranda; son Chris; numerous grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
Grant is predeceased by parents Art & Helen Freemantle; parents-in-law Ada & Pete Glomlien.
Our family is looking forward to many more “woohoo” nights, campfires and card games when we all meet again.
To Honor Grant’s Wishes No Formal Service Will Be Held.
