It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lorna Anne (Barb) Pickering of Stettler, Alberta, beloved wife of the late C. Keith Pickering. Barb passed away peacefully at the Stettler Hospital & Care Centre on March 11, 2025, at the age of 86 years.

Barb was born in Nanaimo, BC, on May 22, 1938. She married the love of her life, C. Keith Pickering, on March 16, 1956, at the R.C.A.F. chapel in Station Comox, BC. Together, they traveled Canada with the R.C.A.F., and Barb worked as a lifeguard at numerous R.C.A.F. bases they were stationed at.

For 20 years, Barb worked at Murdocks Gem Shop in Whitehorse, Yukon, where she formed lasting friendships and left a mark on the community. In her personal life, Barb had many hobbies, including crocheting, knitting, and sewing. She loved sharing her handmade creations with those she loved.

Barb will be remembered for her warm heart, her kindness, and her unwavering dedication to her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Barb was predeceased by her beloved husband, C. Keith Pickering, and is survived by her daughters Vickie-Lynne Heal and Norma Laviolette; two grandchildren; one great grand daughter; sister-in-law Rita Prince as well as lots of nieces, nephews and many dear friends who will miss her dearly.

In honoring Barb’s wishes no formal funeral service will be held.
