Bonnie Joanne Docherty

1943 - 2021

Bonnie Joanne was born on July 28, 1943, in Lacombe, Alberta to Harry & Violet (Sim) Claerhout and passed away in Stettler, AB on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at the age of 78 years.

Bonnie was raised in Central Alberta and married Earl Docherty in 1963. Together they raised 4 children, had many special pets and owned several businesses over the years.

Bonnie was quite successful in home sales such as Avon, Tupperware, Amway and Watkins.

She was also known for her beautiful sewing of her grandchildren’s clothes, blankets & quilts as well as many hoodies and welding hats. 

Bonnie loved to do crafts and was always busy trying something new and repurposing materials.

Throughout the years, Bonnie was very involved in Girl Guides programs, skating/hockey, local ladies’ groups and many more volunteer positions that benefited the community and her children’s interests. 

Bonnie & Earl lived in Red Deer, Calgary, Alix and enjoyed their time in Whitehorse, Yukon eventually settling back in Alix. Bonnie lived her final few years in Heritage House in Stettler, AB where her long-term care was exceptional. 

Predeceased by her loving husband Earl in 2012, her Dad & Mom, oldest Grandson Dan and her step Mom Mary: Bonnie leaves to mourn her children Tim (Alayna), Holly (Wayne), Pam (Peter), Kerry (Patrick); her grandchildren Cole (Kelsey), Jake, Brady, Abraham-Earl, Rayne, Sammi (Clayton) Jessica (Stuart), Kevin, Bill, Jamie, Brad, Kimmy, Sean & Ruby; her great grandchildren Parker, Dawson, Brook & Hunter.  Bonnie is also survived by her sisters Betty, Debbie; brothers Doug (Debbie), Bob (Mary), Dwain; special friends Sharon Stephenson and Gwen Rempel; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and the Docherty family.

A Private Family Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 1:30 PM 

 Due to covid restrictions the funeral service will be webcast to all those wishing to attend virtually.
